I am not a morning person. As I type this, it is 5:57am and I am not happy to be awake. Only a few feet from me, Ty is still sleeping in our warm bed and I want nothing more than to crawl back in with him. But I'm not going to, I have a gym date this morning with Brittany so I need to get my butt moving!
I've tried various ways to MAKE myself a morning person, setting my alarm 15 minutes early every day for a week, not letting myself hit the snooze button, going to bed super early. I just don't think it's in the cards for me, but I know I get so much more done (like blogging!) when I wake up 30 minutes to an hour before I need to leave the house. Really it's that initial 5 minutes after my alarm goes off and the 10-15 minutes that I'm stumbling around trying to find my clothes and put my contacts in that are the worst. Once you get past that, being up early in the morning really isn't so bad :) oh, except in the winter when it's cold...that's always bad.
One thing that does make it a little harder on me in the mornings is that I live 30 minutes away from the gym...sitting in the car for 30 minutes brings that sleepy feeling back with a vengeance, so even if I am feeling relatively awake when I leave the house, once I get to the gym I want to curl up on a mat in the corner for nap time. Yesterday I tried having an energy drink during the drive (it's vitamin based, I hate the taste of Red Bull and all those other crazy drinks) and that definitely helped.
I did pretty well yesterday after my post about over-complicating, well, everything. I brought my lunch and snacks to work yesterday and I only had two smallish glasses of wine at my meeting last night - we split a bottle so it was more economical at least! I'm heading to the gym this morning, lunch packed and ready to tackle Body for Life week 9. I'm not making any plans or spreadsheets or org charts, I'm just going day to day with two goals in mind: eat something healthy and don't spend money on anything dumb.
Are you a morning person? If not, what do you do to try to get up and going in the mornings?
